INTUITIVE RECORDS - IRDG011

Postcard-Music presents a cycle of sounds to be repeated, but in varied ways, and each element is only to be played once in a cycle. But they are contrasting: a short outburst - a very long tone or sound - and a jumping melodic figure.

The piece was inspired by the aleatoric cycles of Penderecki. But I asked myself: why play them so fast and mechanically so that just a rather monotonous mass of sound results? Why not do the playing through much more slowly and in a transparent way and make room for interesting improvisations? A further inspiration was serialism, understood as the use of musical material organised into continua.

Listen to the very different forms of playing!
